MNS wants SBI to recruit only Marathi Manoos
According to Raj Thackeray there should only be one state in the whole universe - the glorious state of Maharashtra, full to bursting with the pure and simple species, the Marathi manoos.
In a new letter to the State Bank of India, the Raj Thackeray-led Maharashtra Navanirman Sena ordered the bank to employ only the local Marathi people. "We have written a letter to SBI administration demanding consideration of locals on priority for 1,100 clerical posts announced by them," MNS General Secretary Shirish Parkar said.
"SBI is holding an entrance exam on Sunday in the city and the administration has assured the MNS they will speak to the authorities concerned in Delhi regarding our demand," he claimed. "About 1.5 lakh applications were received by SBI and 70 per cent are outsiders. The posts are local and Marathi people should get priority for that," Parkar added.
Of course it is not the first time the MNS has pulled such a stunt, the attention seeking group on October 19th last year had trashed the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) exams in Mumbai and its satellite cities. Candidates from UP and Bihar who were appearing for the exam in Mumbai, Thane and Kalyan were beaten, slapped and kicked in public. All of the Biharis were dragged out of the hall and trashed mercilessly. As a result 25 people were seriously injured and thousands moer fled Mumbai in fear of Don Corleoni Raj Thackeray.
The Mumbai police had arrested Raj Thackeray and had detained a few MNS activists for assault and damage to property. Of course that hasn't stopped the party from making repeated attempts at splitting India into tiny fragments. If this goes on any longer, Maharashtra will soon be declared as a hazardous area, not at all safe for conducting any exam, let alone living a peaceful life.
Says blogger secretmyth, "Mumbai has enough trouble already what with the dozens of terrorists bombing the city every year, why is this Raj Thackeray adding to the pain? And its not like he heroically saved thousands of lives during last years' Mumbai attacks, the coward was nowhere to be found. Where was he when 'his Mumbai' needed a savior and hope?"
